Natural Disasters & Preparedness
"Natural disasters such as flood, fire, earthquake, tornado and windstorm affect thousands of
people every year. You should know what your risks are and prepare to protect yourself, your
family and community.
Recognizing an impending hazard and knowing what to do to protect yourself and your family
will help you take effective steps to prepare beforehand and aid recovery after the event."
~Ready.gov
Natural Disasters:
"Any event or force of nature that has catastrophic consequences, such as avalanche,
earthquake, flood, forest fire, hurricane, lightning, tornado, tsunami, and volcanic eruption."
~Dictionary.com
Throughout the first marking period you have studied natural disasters, landforms, and erosion and weathering in reading, social studies, and science. Now, it is your job to take the information you have learned and create a brochure to inform readers of different types of natural disasters and ways to prepare for them.
On the tabs above you will find information about the project and resources to help you complete your research and create your final project.
